Heritage protection: return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from the territory of a Member State

PURPOSE: the codification of Directive 93/7/EEC on the return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from the territory of a Member State.
PROPOSED ACT: Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council.
CONTENT: the purpose of this proposal is to proceed to the codification of Council Directive 93/7/EEC of 15 March 1993 on the return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from the territory of a Member State.
The new Directive will supersede the various acts incorporated in it; it fully preserves the content of the acts being codified and hence does no more than bring them together with only such formal amendments as are required by the codification exercise itself.
