Amending budget 4/2008: surplus resulting from the implementation of the budget 2007

2008/2094(BUD)

The Committee on Budgets unanimously adopted the report by Kyösti VIRRANKOSKI (ALDE, FI), approving unamended Draft amending budget No 4/2008 of the European Union.

MEPs point out that the aim of this draft budget is to enter in the 2008 budget the surplus of the 2007 financial year, amounting to EUR 1 528 833 290, which is mainly due to an over-registering in revenue of EUR 72 957 868, an under-spending in expenditure of EUR 1 579 386 212 and a negative balance of monetary exchange of -EUR 123 510 791.

MEPs note that, compared to previous years, the under-spending of payment appropriations has further decreased. In 2007 it amounted to:

  • EUR 648 million for Heading 1,
  • EUR 361 million for Heading 2,
  • EUR 241 million for Heading 3,
  • EUR 362 million for Heading 4,
  • EUR 903 million for Heading 5.

MEPs therefore decided to adopt Draft amending budget No 4/2008 unamended.
