Veterinary checks on animals from third countries

The Committee on Legal Affairs adopted the report by Lidia Joanna GERINGER de OEDENBERG (S-D, PL) approving, under the consultation procedure, the proposal for a Council directive laying down the principles governing the organisation of veterinary checks on animals entering the Community from third countries (codified version).

The text was approved in accordance with the opinion of Consultative Working Party, consisting of the legal services of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission, which confirmed that the proposal is a straightforward codification of existing texts, without any change in their substance.
