Mobilisation of the EU Solidarity Fund: flooding in Madeira, Portugal, and storm Xynthia in France in 2010

The European Parliament adopted by 476 votes to 7, with 2 abstentions, a resolution approving the proposal to mobilise the European Solidarity Funds.
These funds shall be mobilised for a total amount of EUR 66 891 540 in commitment and payment appropriations in 2010 to assist both Madeira (PT) following landslides and severe flooding and France following storm ‘Xynthia’.
It should be noted that the Parliament adopted a drafted amending budget (No 9/2010) in order to formally enter in the 2010 budget the corresponding commitment and payment appropriations (see BUD/2010/2238).
