Car industry: tyres for motor vehicles and their trailers, fitting. Codification

PURPOSE: to codify Council Directive 92/23/EEC relating to tyres for motor vehicles and their trailers and to their fitting.

PROPOSED ACT: Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council.

LEGAL BASIS: Article 114 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU).

CONTENT: the purpose of this proposal is to undertake a codification of Council Directive 92/23/EEC of 31 March 1992 relating to tyres for motor vehicles and their trailers and to their fitting. The new Directive will supersede the various acts incorporated in it. This proposal fully preserves the content of the acts being codified and hence does no more than bring them together with only such formal amendments as are required by the codification exercise itself.

BUDGETARY IMPLICATIONS: this proposal has no implications for the EU budget.
