PROPOSED ACT: Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council.
LEGAL BASIS: Article 192(1) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU).
CONTENT: the purpose of this proposal is to undertake a codification of Council Directive 85/337/EEC of 27 June 1985 on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment. The new Directive will supersede the various acts incorporated in it. It fully preserves the content of the acts being codified and hence does no more than bring them together with only such formal amendments as are required by the codification exercise itself.
BUDGETARY IMPLICATION: this proposal has no implication on the EU budget.
