Mobilisation of the EU Solidarity Fund: earthquake in Spain and flooding in Italy

The European Parliament adopted by 677 votes to 19, with 3 abstentions, a resolution approving the proposal for a decision on mobilisation of the European Union Solidarity Fund.

This fund shall mobilise EUR 37 979 875 in commitment and payment appropriations in 2011 to assist Spain and Italy hit respectively, by an earthquake and floods.

It should be noted that the Parliament adopted an amending budget (No 7/2011) in parallel to formally enter this adjustment into the Union’s 2011 budget (see BUD/2011/2301).
