European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA): extension of the term of office of the Chairperson

The European Parliament approved by 503 votes to 106, with 48 abstentions, the proposal for the extension of the term of office of Gabriel Bernardino as Chairperson of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) by another five-year term.
To recall, on 30 September 2015, the Board of Supervisors of the EIOPA proposed to extend the term of office of Gabriel Bernardino, the incumbent Chairperson of the EIOPA, by another five-year term, and informed the European Parliament accordingly.
On 17 November 2015, the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs held a hearing with Gabriel Bernardino at which he made an opening statement and then responded to questions from the members of the Committee.
