Court of Auditors: appointment of a Portuguese member

The Committee on Budgetary Control adopted the report by Indrek TARAND (Greens/EFA, EE) on the proposed nomination of João Alexandre Tavares Gonçalves de Figueiredo (PT) as a member of the Court of Auditors.

The committee evaluated the credentials of the nominee proposed by the Council, in particular in view of the requirements laid down in Article 286(1) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). It then proceeded with the hearing of the candidate at its meeting of 26 October 2017.

Members called on the European Parliament to deliver a favourable opinion on the Council’s nomination of João Alexandre Tavares Gonçalves de Figueiredo as a Member of the Court of Auditors.
