Single Resolution Board: renewal of the term of office of the Chair

The European Parliament adopted 480 votes to 121, with abstentions, a decision approving the Commission's proposal to renew the term of office of Elke König as Chair of the Single Resolution Board (SRB).
As a reminder, the Council appointed Elke König Chair of the Single Resolution Board (SRB) for a three-year term from 23 December 2014.
Regulation (EU) No 806/2014 of the European Parliament stipulated that the term of office of the first Chair of the SRB may be renewed once for a period of five years.
Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs evaluated the credentials of the proposed candidate. A hearing was held with Elke König on 4 December 2017.
