EC/Egypt Euro-Mediterranean Association Agreement: accession of Croatia to the EU. Protocol

PURPOSE: to conclude, on behalf of the European Union and its Member States, a Protocol to the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement establishing an Association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and Egypt, of the other part, to take account of the accession of Croatia to the European Union.

NON-LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Decision (EU) 2019/835 on the conclusion, on behalf of the European Union and its Member States, of a Protocol to the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement establishing an Association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Arab Republic of Egypt, of the other part, to take account of the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union.

CONTENT: the Council decided to approve, on behalf of the Union and its Member States, the Protocol to the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement establishing an Association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and Egypt, of the other part, to take account of Croatia's accession to the European Union.

The Euro-Mediterranean Agreement establishing an association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and Egypt, of the other part, was signed in Luxembourg on 25 June 2001. It entered into force on 1 June 2004.

In accordance with its Act of Accession, Croatia has undertaken to accede to international agreements signed or concluded by the European Union and its Member States by means of a protocol to these agreements. The Protocol to the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement to take account of Croatia's accession to the European Union was signed on 10 April 2017, subject to its conclusion at a later date.
