Partial renewal of members of the Court of Auditors - LV nominee
The European Parliament decided by 630 votes to 45, with 19 abstentions, to deliver a favourable opinion on the Council's proposal to nominate Latvian candidate Mihails Kozlovs as a Member of the Court of Auditors.
Mihails Kozlovs has been a Member of the European Court of Auditors since May 2016. He is currently assigned to Chamber IV Regulation of markets and competitive economy.
The Committee on Budgetary Control evaluated the credentials of the candidate proposed by the Council in view of the requirements laid down in Article 286(1) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). It then held a hearing with the candidate on 10 January 2022, during which the candidate made an opening statement and then answered questions put by the committee members. These questions covered, inter alia, the performance of duties (lessons learned and commitments for the future), portfolio management, working methods and deliverables, and guarantees of independence and integrity.
