EP Rules of Procedure, Rule 9(6): hearing in procedures on immunity; interpretation

The European Parliament adopted a decision concerning the possibility of hearing the Member concerned remotely in procedures on immunity (interpretation of Rule 9(6) of the Rules of Procedure).

Parliament decided to append the following interpretation to Rule 9(6) of the Rules of Procedure:

"Rule 216(1), second subparagraph, does not prevent the committee responsible from allowing the remote participation of the Member concerned in an immunity hearing in camera, in accordance with the principles the committee laid down pursuant to Rule 9(13), if that Member is, owing to exceptional and objective circumstances, unable to attend the hearing physically."
