Partial renewal of Members of the Court of Auditors – ES nominee

2023/0806(NLE)

The European Parliament decided by 431 votes to 10, with 32 abstentions, to give a favourable opinion on the Council's proposal to nominate Alejandro Blanco Fernández (ES) as a member of the Court of Auditors.

Alejandro Blanco Fernandez has worked at Spain's Permanent Representation to the European Union since 2015, where he coordinates negotiations on legislative dossiers. Previously, he worked at the European Commission as a national expert in the Internal Audit and Advisory Unit.

By letter of 8 September 2023, the Council consulted Parliament on the nomination of Alejandro Blanco Fernández as a Member of the Court of Auditors.

Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control then proceeded to evaluate Alejandro Blanco Fernández’s credentials. In carrying out that evaluation, the committee received a curriculum vitae from Tony Murphy, as well as the replies to the written questionnaire that he had been sent.

The committee subsequently held a hearing with Tony Murphy on 12 October 2023, at which he made an opening statement and then answered questions put by the members of the committee.
