European Statistical Governance Advisory Board (ESGAB): appointment of the Chairperson

PURPOSE: to appoint the Chairperson of the European Statistical Governance Advisory Board (ESGAB)
PROPOSED ACT: Council Decision.
ROLE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT: Council may adopt the act only if Parliament has given its consent to the act.
CONTENT: the current Chairperson of the European Statistical Governance Advisory Board (ESGAB) was appointed for a term of three years, which expires on 31 January 2024.
Therefore, the Council has consulted the European Commission on the nomination of Mr Alfred CAMILLERI as the new Chairperson of the ESGAB, based on the Economic and Financial Committee's recommendation.
The Commission issued a favourable opinion on 28 November 2023.
The Council now calls on the European Parliament to approve this nomination.
