Amending certain road transport and aviation Directives as regards certain reporting requirements
PURPOSE: to make limited and targeted amendments to four directives with a view to streamlining certain reporting requirements in the road transport and aviation sectors.
LEGISLATIVE ACT: Decision (EU) 2024/1254 of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directives 2009/12/EC, 2009/33/EC and (EU) 2022/1999 of the European Parliament and of the Council and Council Directive 96/67/EC as regards certain reporting requirements in the fields of road transport and aviation.
CONTENT: reporting requirements play a key role in ensuring proper monitoring and correct enforcement of legislation. However, it is important to streamline such requirements, in order to ensure that they fulfil the purpose for which they were intended and to limit the administrative burden.
Directive 2009/12/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on airport charges, Directive 2009/33/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the promotion of clean and energy-efficient road transport vehicles, Directive (EU) 2022/1999 of the European Parliament and of the Council on uniform procedures for checks on the transport of dangerous goods by road, as well as Council Directive 96/67/EC on access to the ground handling market at Community airports, lay down several reporting requirements in the fields of road transport and aviation.
This decision provides for limited and targeted amendments to these four Directives. It simplifies the requirements in the policy area of transport, in particular road and air transport, and streamlines the reporting requirements through a combination of measures, including reducing the frequency of these requirements and deleting some of their elements.
