Resolution on the declaration of principles for a gender-equal society

2025/2780(RSP)

The European Parliament adopted a resolution on the declaration of principles for a gender-equal society.

Gender equality is a core value of the EU and is considered essential for the EU’s further development. Parliament remains strongly committed to prohibiting discrimination and promoting equality across all EU legislation and policies.

In this context, the European Commission has invited interested parties – especially the Parliament, the Council, social partners, civil society, and other organisations – to endorse the declaration on women’s rights annexed to its communication of 7 March 2025.

Parliament reaffirmed its unwavering support for women’s rights and gender equality and welcomed the Commission’s communication as a good basis for the upcoming gender equality strategy. The Commission is urged to fully incorporate Parliament’s position on the strategy into its development of the post-2025 framework. It also endorses the principles outlined in the Commission’s declaration.
