Appointment of a Member of the Executive Board of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA)

The European Parliament decided by 511 votes to 29, with 27 abstentions, to approve the proposal for the appointment of Henrica Maria Verbeek-Kusters as Member of the Executive Board of the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism.

On 12 November 2025, the Commission adopted a shortlist with a candidate for the position of Member of the Executive Board of the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism and provided the shortlist to Parliament.

The Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs proceeded to evaluate the credentials of the shortlisted candidate. On 2 December 2025, the Committee held a hearing with Henrica Maria Verbeek-Kusters, at which she made an opening statement and then answered questions put by members of the Committees.

On 9 December 2025, the General Board of the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism adopted a proposal to appoint Ms Henrica Maria Verbeek-Kusters as Member of the Executive Board of the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism and transmitted that proposal to Parliament.

Parliament reiterated its commitment to ensuring gender balance in executive positions within the Union's institutions, bodies, and agencies. All bodies and institutions of the Union and its Member States should implement concrete measures to guarantee gender balance.

As indicated in Regulation (EU) 2024/1620, Parliament expects to receive a shortlist of at least two qualified candidates for future appointments, with a view to preserving gender-balanced representation at the Executive Board of the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism.
