2026/0801(NLE)

The European Parliament decided by 460 votes to 68, with 91 abstentions, to deliver a favourable opinion on the Council recommendation to appoint Boris Vujčić as the Vice-President of the European Central Bank.

By letter of 30 January 2026, the European Council consulted Parliament on the appointment of Boris Vujčić as Vice‑President of the European Central Bank for a term of office of 8 years, with effect from 1 June 2026.

Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs then proceeded to evaluate Boris Vujčić’s credentials. In carrying out that evaluation, the committee received a curriculum vitae from Boris Vujčić as well as the replies to the written questionnaire that he had been sent.

The committee subsequently held a hearing with Boris Vujčić on 25 February 2026, at which he made an opening statement and then answered questions put by the members of the committee.
