2025/0803(NLE)

The European Parliament decided by 435 votes to 112, with 46 abstentions, to appoint Andrés Ritter as the European Chief Prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor's Office.

On 3 December 2025, after having received the opinion of its Budgetary Control Committee, its Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee voted in support of Mr Andrés Ritter as the Parliament’s preferred candidate for the position of the European Chief Prosecutor of the EPPO. Moreover, on the same day, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States (Coreper) established a position in support of the appointment of Mr. Andrés Ritter as European Chief Prosecutor of the EPPO.

Both its Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee and Coreper supported the same candidate as their preferred candidate, and therefore a common accord on the appointment of Mr. Andrés Ritter as European Chief Prosecutor of the EPPO was reached.
