United Nations Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships

The European Parliament adopted by 605 votes to 3, with 9 abstentions, a legislative resolution on the draft Council decision on the conclusion, on behalf of the European Union, of the United Nations Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships.

The European Parliament gave its consent to the conclusion of the agreement.

As a reminder, the present proposal seeks to conclude the Convention on behalf of the Union which will contribute to ensuring legal certainty and predictability at international and European level by creating a uniform regime for the international effects of judicial sales of ships. Its conclusion on behalf of the Union and subsequent ratification by Member States aims to enhance trade growth and foster a more robust Europe on the global stage.

Additionally, it will help maintain a trade policy that remains transparent and inclusive.
