Burning behaviour of materials used in the interior construction of certain categories of motor vehicle

Mr VON WOGAU(EPP, D), replacing the rapporteur, reiterated the EP’s numerous demands for motor vehicle safety to be improved. He concluded with the hope that the Directive could be applied as soon as possible. Commissioner BANGEMANN felt that this Directive would improve passenger safety in the event of fire. The use of more resistant materials to cover the floor should make it easier for users to get out of vehicles in the event of fire.
