Quality assurance in higher education: European cooperation

Stressing the importance of this recommendation in terms of promoting quality education in Europe, Commissioner Cresson said that the amendment proposed by the rapporteur could be accepted as its scope was clearly defined and restricted to training in research. She said in this respect that, in the teaching provided by higher educational establishments, training in research was often intimately tied to general education.
