Seafarers: minimum level of training

PURPOSE : to consolidate Directive 94/58/EC on the minimum level of training of seafarers. COMMUNITY MEASURE : Directive 2001/25/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the minimum level of training of seafarers. CONTENT : the present Directive aims uniquely, in the interests of clarity and rationality of Community law, to consolidate Council Directive 94/58/EC of 22 November 1994, which has been substantially amended since its adoption. The new Directive shall substitute the various directives which is the objective of the codification operation. It totally respects the substance of the codified texts and aims to regroup them in one single text in bringing only the formal amendments required by the same operation of consolidation. Directive 94/58/EC is repealed and the reference made to this Directive shall be construed as references to this Directive. ENTRY INTO FORCE : 7 June 2001.�
