EC/Ukraine Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. Protocol following the 1995 enlargement

The committee recommended that the European Parliament assent to the Council and Commission proposal on the conclusion of partnership and cooperation agreements with the Ukraine. Mr Alfred GOMOLKA (PPE, D) noted that the situation in this country was alarming: "the economy is on its knees and the situation is desperate". It should be noted that, although the European Parliament assented to this agreement in November 1995, a number of Member States (Belgium, Italy and Portugal) have yet to ratify it.�
