Rules and arrangements for structural assistance in the fisheries sector: maximum rates of assistance

PURPOSE: to present a Commission proposal for a Council regulation amending Regulation 2792/1999/EC laying down the detailed rules and arrangements regarding Community structural assistance in the fisheries sector. CONTENT: This proposed regulaiton concerns certain rates of assistance under the Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG). However, the limits for rates of assistance which apply to the FIFG remain below the special provisions laid down in Regulation 1260/1999/EC for certain categories of Objective 1 regions. This proposed regulation seeks therefore to amend the limits for those regions, with the exception of the limits for aid for fleet renewal and modernisation of fishing vessels. The limits applicable to FIFG are therefore amended for these regions, with the exception of the limits concerning aids for renewal and modernisation of the fishing fleet, because of the specific difficulties relating to each of these categories of region in particular concerning the ultra periferal regions. �
