Water policy, pollution: quality of waters capable of supporting freshwater fish (repeal. Directive 78/659/EEC). Codification

PURPOSE : legislative codification. PROPOSED ACT : Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council. CONTENT : the purpose of this proposal is to undertake a codification of Council Directive 78/659/EEC of 18 July 1978 on the quality of fresh waters needing protection or improvement in order to support fish life. The new Directive will supersede the various acts incorporated in it. This proposal fully preserves the content of the acts being codified and hence does no more than bring them together with only such formal amendments as are required by the codification exercise itself.�
