Air pollution: measures to be taken against emissions from motor vehicles (amend. Directive 70/220/EEC)

The committee adopted three amendments: (1) two oral amendments from the rapporteur, Mrs BLOCH VON BLOTTNITZ, introducing a reference to the European Parliament where this had been omitted from the common position and (2) an amendment from Mr Bernd LANGE (PES,D) deleting a Council proposal to allow delayed implementation of the Directive in the case of vehicles with a power-to-weight ratio of no more than 30 kW/t and a maximum speed not exceeding 130 km/h. Commenting on the latter amendment, which she supported, Mrs BLOCH VON BLOTTNITZ said it would have benefited a single company. "We cannot hold up the whole of Europe because of one firm," she said. �
