Traditional herbal medicinal products

The committee adopted the report by Giuseppe NISTICO' (EPP-ED, I) approving the Council's common position under the 2nd reading of the codecision procedure, subject to just two amendments. It said that it was important to ensure that non-medicinal herbal products fulfilling the criteria of food legislation could continue to fall under food legislation in the EU. It should therefore be specifed that the list of herbal substances, preparations and combinations thereof, to be drawn up by the Committee for Herbal Medicinal Products, should only cover the medicinal use of such substances, which may already be regulated for use in food in various Member States. �
