EC/Russia agreement on cooperation in science and technology

The committee adopted a report (consultation procedure) by Mrs Godelieve QUISTHOUDT-ROWOHL (EPP/ED, D) approving the proposal for a Council Decision concluding the agreement on cooperation for science and technology between the European Community and Russia. The report pinpointed several areas to which particular attention should be paid with a view to closer cooperation in the future, such as increased participation of women in projects financed, the need to increase private sector involvement and increased use of modern telecommunications methods in order to reduce travel expenses while improving the level of information exchanges.
