Yugoslavia FRY: provision of further macro-financial assistance

The committee adopted the report by its chairman, Carlos WESTENDORP Y CABEZA (PES, E), broadly approving the proposal under the consultation procedure, subject to a few drafting amendments aimed at clarifying the text. It specified inter alia that financial assistance from the Community was supplementary to funds provided for by the CARDS programme adopted in 2000 (financial assistance for Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the FRY and the FYROM). Another amendment, seeking to link the conditions and rules governing macro-economic assistance to any other EC assistance, therefore stipulated that the economic policy conditions attached to this supplementary assistance should conform to the monitoring mechanism and economic needs laid down in the regulation on the CARDS programme.�
