Europol: adjusting the basic salaries and allowances applicable to staff. Initiative Belgium

The committee adopted the report by Gérard DEPREZ (EPP-ED, B) rejecting the Belgian initiative under the consultation procedure. As the initiative did not make clear what data the Europol Management Board had drawn on in conducting its pay review, the committee felt that Parliament could not approve a proposal for an increase if that proposal was not accompanied by a properly argued justification. It added that the need for a justification was all the greater because the proposed increase of 5.2% was well in excess of the 4.3% increase applicable to EU officials in The Hague. �
