Maritime transport: formalities for ships arriving in and departing from Member States ports, IMO FAL convention

The committee adopted the report by Ari VATANEN (EPP-ED, FIN) broadly approving the proposal under the codecision procedure (1st reading), subject to a number of mainly technical amendments aimed inter alia at bringing the text into line with the IMO FAL Convention. The rapporteur felt that the directive should be accepted at first reading, thus giving a clear signal of the importance attached to the development of maritime transport in the Community.�
