Air transport: slots at Community airports and competition (amend. Regulation (EEC) No 95/93)

The committee unanimously adopted the report by its chairman, Luciano CAVERI (ELDR, I), approving the Commission's new proposal at 1st reading (codecision procedure). MEPs accepted the Commission's argument that the war in Iraq and SARS had had a major impact on air services to the regions affected as well as within the EU, and therefore proposed that the legislation should be speeded up by using a simplified procedure within Parliament, to ensure that air carriers can plan their slot capacity for 2004 as soon as possible. �
