Specific research programme: advanced communications technologies and services (1994-1998)

The Council passed the decision adopting the specific RTD programme in the area of advanced communication technologies and services for the period from 27 July 1994 to 31 December 1998. The amount deemed necessary to implement the programme is ECU 630 million and the suggested allocation of this amount is as follows (in million ecus): interactive digital multimedia services: ECU 162 million, phototonics technologies: ECU 104 million, high-speed networks: ECU 75 million, mobility and personal communications networks: ECU 115 million, intelligent networks and service engineering: ECU 100 million, quality, security and reliability of communications services and systems: ECU 31 million.�
