Agenda 2000: arable crops, support system for producers

In the light of the agreement reached on Agenda 2000 at the Berlin Summit in March, the European Parliament adopted the second report by Giulio Fantuzzi (PSE,IT), which approves the Commission proposal for a Council regulation establishing the support system for producers of certain arable crops, subject to the amendments adopted by the Parliament on 28/01/99 and two other new amendments, providing that the area payments shall be reduced to the basic level of payments per hectare of cereals in four (rather then three) consecutive phases, as follows:
- for oilseeds: EURO 86.43 per tonne for the 2000 harvest, EURO 78.62 per tonne for the 2001 harvest, EURO 70.81 per tonne for the 2002 harvest and EURO 63.00 per tonne from the 2003 harvest onwards;
- for linseeds: EURO 94.57 per tonne for the 2000 harvest, EURO 84.04 per tonne for the 2001 harvest, EURO 73.52 per tonne for the 2002 harvest and EURO 63.00 per tonne from 2003 onwards.�
