EC/Comoros fisheries agreement: protocol for the period from 28 February 1998 to 27 February 2001

In adopting the report by Mr Allan MACARTNEY (ARE, UK) Parliament approved the protocol setting out the fishing opportunities and financial contribution on fishing off the Comoros for the period from 28 February 1998 to 27 February 2001. Pointing out once again that Parliament should be better informed on the fisheries agreements it requested that during the final year of the validity of the Protocol (and before the start of negotiations on renewal) the Commission should submit to the Council and the Parliament a report on the application and conditions of implementation of the EC-Comoros fisheries agreement. This report should deal in particular with the state of fish stocks, in particular with regard to small-scale local fisheries, and also with regard to the scientific aspects of the agreement and vocational training. �
