Improvement of the Community production of apples, pears, peaches and nectarines
1997/0031(CNS)
In adopting the report by Mr Klaus REHDER (PSE, D), Parliament approved the proposal for a
Regulation. However, it proposed that:
- for each Member State a minimum and a maximum age should be set for the trees to be grubbed
up, in order to prevent the grubbing-up of trees which are too young or too old for the purpose of
obtaining the grubbing-up premium;
- the Member States should decide on the regions and conditions under which the operation should
apply, so as not to disturb or prejudice measures to stabilize farm incomes and preserve the
ecological balance.
