Agricultural prices 1997/1998: fixation of sugar prices and of the standard quality of beet

Prices for agricultural products 1997/98 - Sugar. The Council adopted Regulation (EC) No 1187/97 fixing certain sugar prices and the standard quality of beet for the 1997/98 marketing year. SUBSTANCE: - sugar prices to remain unchanged in relation to 1996/97, i.e.: .Basic price for beet: 47.67 ECU/t. .Minimum price for A beet: 46.72 ECU/t. .Minimum price for B beet: 32.42 ECU/t. .Intervention price for white sugar: 63.19 ECU/100 kg. .Target price for white sugar: 66.50 ECU/100 kg. .Intervention price for raw sugar: 52.37 ECU/100 kg. - reduction of the monthly reimbursement of storage costs from 0.42 to 0.38 ECU/100 kg of white sugar per month to take account of the fall in interest rates in the Community. Technical storage costs will be adjusted as a result. In view of the specific nature of the sugar industry in Portugal this year, national aid to beet producers there will be permitted, at a declining rate, in the 1997/1998 to 2000/2001 marketing years. No national aid will be permitted as from the 2001/2002 marketing year. �
