EC/Azerbaijan interim agreement

PURPOSE: conclusion of an interim agreement on trade and trade-related matters between the Community and the Republic of Azerbaijan. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Decision 98/588/EC on the conclusion by the European Community of the Interim Agreement on trade and trade-related matters between the European Community, the ECSC and EURATOM, of the one part, and the Republic of Azerbaijan, of the other part. CONTENT: the Interim Agreement allows the provisional application of the trade section and related measures of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement signed in Brussels on the 20th September 1996 between the Communities and Azerbaijan. The Interim Agreement is to be applied pending the entry into force of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. For Azerbaijan, it replaces the trade provisions of the Trade and Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement signed on the 18/12/89 between the Communities and the USSR. ENTRY INTO FORCE: the Interim Agreement will enter into force as soon as all of the necessary procedures have been implemented.�
