Community agricultural statistics: improvement and information

In adopting the report by Mrs. Encarnacion REDONDO JIMENEZ (EPP/ED, E), the European Parliament approved the proposal for a decision. It sought to underline that both the internal evolution of the common agricultural policy and the external context of enlargement towards the East, on the one hand, and the opening of a new round of multilateral trade negotiations, on the other, call for improved identification of statistical needs and the achievement of the current regulatory framework. The European Parliament asks that the process of adapting Community agriculture statistics, from 2002 onwards, can be decided by the European Parliament and the Council (and not by the Council alone). In addition, the European Parliament wants the EAGGF to carry out the statistical processing of information concerning EAGGF Guarantee Section payments by aggregating data concerning aid, surface area or the number of livestock units affected and the number of beneficiaries at NUTS 2 level in terls of the type of measures and broken down by tranches of aid received.�
