Fisheries sector and resources: structural measures and sustainable development, FIFG

The European Parliament adopted the proposal on structural assistance in the fisheries sector with a number of non-binding amendments. The House takes the view that as the Common Fisheries Policy is due for a major overhaul next year, there is no point in introducing far reaching changes at this stage, especially as these could have an adverse effect on maritime safety. The amendments made to the report by Mrs Elspeth ATTWOOLL (ELDR, UK) therefore seek to delete certain provisions in the proposal.�
