Kaleidoscope: programme to support artistic and cultural activities until 31 December 1999

PURPOSE: to extend the duration of the Kaleidoscope programme by one year until 31/12/1999. COMMUNITY MEASURE: decision 477/1999/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council amending decision 719/96/EC establishing a programme to support artistic and cultural activities having a European dimension (Kaleidoscope). CONTENT: Pending the adoption of the European Community's framework programme "Culture" for the period 2000-2004, which incorporates all actions currently in force in the cultural field (including the Kaleidscope programme), this decision extends by one year the current Kaleidoscope programme (from 31/12/1998 until 31/12/1999) according to the same conditions as those provided for by decision 719/96/EC which established the programme. The extension of Kaleidoscope will mean an increase in the budget initially proposed for the programme. The new financial allocation will therefore amount to a total of EURO 36.7 million for the duration of the programme (allocating an additional amount of EURO 10.2 million for 1999).
