Denominations and technical specifications of euro coins intended for circulation

PURPOSE: to amend regulation 975/98/EC in response to the requests of the vending industry and the European Blind Union. COMMUNITY MEASURE: Council Regulation 423/1999/EC amending regulation 975/98/EC on denominations and technical specifications of euro coins intended for circulation. CONTENT: the regulation increases the weight of the 50 cent coin from 7 to 7.8 grammes and redefines the edge of the 50 and 10 cent coins from being "coarse milled" to being "shaped with fine scallops". ENTRY INTO FORCE: 01/01/1999.�
