The committee adopted the report by Paul RÜBIG (EPP-ED, AT), approving the Council's common position under the 2nd reading of the codecision procedure, subject to one amendment increasing the programme's budget from EUR 135 million, as proposed by the Council, to EUR 149 million. MEPs hoped to achieve a compromise between the amount initially proposed by the Commission (EUR 163 m) and the substantial cut in the budget made by the Council.
