Social security: employed, self employed persons and families (amend. Regulations (EEC) No 1408/71 and (EEC) No 574/72)

PURPOSE : adoption of a Regulation amending Regulation 1408/71/EEC on the application of social security schemes to employed persons, to self-employed persons and to members of their families moving within the Community and Regulation 574/72/EEC laying down the procedure for implementing Regulation 1408/71/EEC.

LEGISLATIVE ACT: Regulation 647/2005 (EC) of the European Parliament and of the Council.

CONTENT : Regulations Nos 1408/71/EEC and 574/72/EEC were updated by Regulation 118/971/EEC and most recently amended by Commission Regulation 89/2001/EC and Regulation 1386/2001/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.

This Regulation updates these Community Regulations to take account of changes in national legislation, clarify the legal situation with regard to certain Articles of the Regulations and take account of recent developments in the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Communities.
