European Environment Agency and the European Environment Information and Observation Network: term of office of Executive Director

The European Parliament adopted a resolution drafted by Giuseppe GARGANI (EPP-ED, IT), and made some amendments to the Commission’s proposal:

-Parliament inserted a clause stating that the opinion of the representative appointed by the European Parliament must be heard before the appointment of the Executive Director and the extension of his term of office;

-the management board may extend the period of office of the Executive Director. Parliament deleted the requirement for a proposal from the Commission before extension;

-the management board and not the Commission will carry out the evaluation, which will be submitted without delay to the Commission and to the European Parliament.
