Heritage protection: return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from the territory of a Member State

The Committee on Legal Affairs adopted the report by Lidia Joanna GERINGER de OEDENBERG (PES, PL), approving, under 1st reading of the co-decision procedure, the proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from the territory of a Member State (codified version).

While the proposal was not subject to any “formal” amendments by the committee, it, nevertheless, takes into consideration the recommendations of the Consultative Working Party of the Legal Services of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission.
