Common agricultural policy CAP: common rules for direct support schemes, and certain support schemes for farmers

PURPOSE: to clarify the conditions of eligibility for the payment of the beef premium.

LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Regulation (EC) No 1009/2008 amending Regulation (EC) No 1782/2003 establishing common rules for direct support schemes under the common agricultural policy and establishing certain support schemes for farmers.

CONTENT: this Regulation amends Regulation (EC) No 1782/2003 establishing common rules for direct support schemes under the common agricultural policy and establishing certain support schemes for farmers.

Pursuant to Article 138 of Regulation (EC) No 1782/2003, in order to qualify for direct payments, an animal has to be identified and registered in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1760/2000. These provisions provide that each keeper of animals has to report to the competent authority all movements to and from the holding and all births and deaths of animals on the holding, within a maximum of seven days of the event occurring.

This Regulation states that this information may be provided on the first day of the animal’s retention period.

ENTRY INTO FORCE: 17/10/2008.

APPLICATION: from 01/01/2008.
