Car industry: approval of commercial vehicle equipment and parts; accession of the EC to UN/ECE Regulation No 61
PURPOSE : the accession of the European Community to United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Regulation No 61 on provisions concerning the approval of commercial vehicles with regard to their external projections forward of the cab's rear panel.
PROPOSED ACT: Council Decision.
CONTENT: the standardised requirements of Regulation No 61 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe on provisions concerning the approval of commercial vehicles with regard to their external projections forward of the cab's rear panel is intended to remove technical barriers to the trade in motor vehicles between the contracting parties and ensure a high level of safety and protection for use of such vehicles.
Regulation No 61 has been notified to the Contracting Parties and has entered into force in respect of all the Contracting Parties who did not serve notice of their disagreement by the date or dates specified in the regulation of the revised agreement of 1958. This Regulation must be incorporated into the approval system for motor vehicles and thus be added to the legislation in force within the Community.
It is therefore proposed that the European Community should accede to Regulation No 61 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe on provisions concerning the approval of commercial vehicles with regard to their external projections forward of the cab's rear panel.
